The Serenade turned and sailed north again, and this time we were not going to be denied our visit to the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to Sobek the crocodile-headed god, complete with mummified crocodiles. In Egypt, like most of Africa, everyone expects you to give them money, and the tourist police are no exception. One of the guards at the temple had a particularly cunning plan; he would stand in front of the large EXIT sign and then expect to be given money for 'helpfully' redirecting tourists who attempted to leave by the entry steps. Nice try, matey.

As we cruised back from Kom Ombo to Edfu, we passed Gebel el-Silsila, though we didn't stop there (apparently you can't).

We also took a tour of the bridge and engine room of the Serenade, with it's triplet of 650 horsepower Volvo Penta engines.
